What is Mime?
Indian Mime is a form of theatrical performance in India that tells stories, expresses emotions, and conveys social messages entirely through body movement, facial expressions, and gestures—without spoken dialogue.
While influenced by Western mime traditions, Indian mime has developed its own identity by blending elements of classical Indian aesthetics, folk theatre, mythology, and contemporary social themes. Performers often incorporate expressive techniques rooted in traditional forms such as Bharatanatyam and Kathakali, where gesture (mudra) and facial expression (abhinaya) play a central role.
